PTA Executive Board

Dear Fremont families,

We are looking for excited parents who are enthusiastic about our fantastic school and its unique programs! If that’s YOU, please consider joining our Fremont PTA Executive Board. We are a bunch of really nice people (promise!) committed to working together to celebrate, encourage, improve, and make positive decisions benefiting the welfare of all our students!

All positions are (usually) for a 2-year term and will involve varying time commitments for their particular duties. PTA Board positions also request:

* Attendance at monthly PTA Board meetings (typically the final Tuesday of the month from 230pm-330pm at Fremont)
* Attendance at monthly general PTA meetings (typically the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 630/7pm-8pm)
* Occasional other meetings

Here are our open PTA Board positions for the 2015/2016 school year:

VP Ways & Means

Along with a fancy sounding title, the VP of Ways & Means works closely with our fundraising chairpersons to help raise the monies to pay for all of our PTA programs. They also solicit help from others to join committees as needed.

If you like to work with others, can think with the bigger picture in mind, and are thankful for programs like Meet the Masters, Screen Free Week, and Drama Club, then we’d love to hear from you!

VP Programs

The VP of Programs works diligently with the VP of Ways & Means, as well as all the program chairpersons and committee members, to help plan the year’s events. They also help to coordinate assemblies and after school programs throughout the year; we are always open to new ideas!

If scheduling Fremont activities like the Jog-a-Thon, Teacher Appreciation Week and Carnival sounds like something you’d enjoy doing, please let us know!

Financial Secretary

The Financial Secretary works together with the Treasurer to help keep records of all the monies received by the association. The main duty of the Financial Secretary it to deposit all money into the PTA bank account, to keep records of deposits using an existing spreadsheet, and pass those records onto the Treasurer. A basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel is helpful.

If you are familiar with Excel and can keep thorough records, then this might be the job for you!

The Treasurer position keeps permanent records to track PTA income, receipts, and disbursements of the association. They also pay bills as authorized by the PTA Executive Board and association. Training is provided and the spreadsheets are already created — and easy to manage!

If you can competently maneuver through an Excel spreadsheet and enjoy keeping an eye on budgets, then we would certainly love to have you!

Recording Secretary

The Recording Secretary is a required board position that keeps minutes at both the board meeting (once a month after school) and the regular PTA meeting (once a month in the evening). These minutes are kept in a binder and dispersed at each meeting.

If you can attend our meetings faithfully and enjoy keeping records, we want YOU!

Communications Director

The Communications Director prepares all of our on-line newsletters (Falcon Flyer) and weekly emails. This position does require moderate computer skills, but training is provided. And as a bonus, this job can be done from home!

If you are comfortable with computer programs and enjoy keeping our families in the loop, you’d be a perfect fit!

Room Parent Coordinator

The Room Parent Coordinator helps room parents distribute important school-wide information, obtained from board and association meetings, directly to the classroom. In many ways, the Room Parent Coordinator supports the Communications Director, making sure Fremont information makes it to our wonderful Fremont families. In addition, the Room Parent Coordinator is also in charge of planning Teacher Appreciation Week.

If you’ve been interested in being more involved but weren’t sure where to start, this is a great first role!

Auditor (appointed)

The PTA must conduct an audit of the Treasurer’s report three times per year. This position makes a formal examination of the financial books and records to certify that receipts and expenditure’s match. Training on the process is provided.

If performing an audit is familiar to you, or if you are well organized and good with numbers, then we’d love to hear from you!

If you’re looking for a way to get more involved and one of these open positions sounds like a good fit for you, or if you’d simply like a little more information about a particular position, please contact any of the following people on the Nominating Committee:
